The kitchen has played a versatile role this past year. For some, it has served as a retreat from other obligations—a place to get creative or unwind. Others have encountered it as the space of seemingly never-ending chores. Regardless of their mindsets, people have spent an unparalleled amount of time in their kitchens, and with more user experiences came more user requests.

More space for food storage, easier-to-clean surfaces and tools, and appliances that cater to personalized—and newly experiential—interests bolted to the top of designers’ client requests. Fortunately for the A&D community, category manufacturers were taking note as well. Below, find eight of the best new kitchen appliances coming soon to the home’s hardest-working space.

Samsung Bespoke 4-Door Flex Refrigerator

With consumers cooking at home more than ever, the demand for food storage space has risen immensely. The genius of Samsung’s latest refrigeration system rests in its cooling versatility—offering five cooling zones, including a new airtight mode tailored for fruits and vegetables, which can be shifted based on your needs and help retain food freshness. The new Beverage Center compacts an auto-filled water pitcher and water dispenser efficiently within the unit, offering more capacity than the previous column models. Not one to skimp on personalized options, the Bespoke Four-Door Flex Refrigerator comes in your pick of eight color options—an assortment that can be mixedvandvmatched between the four front panels and easily swapped out over time by an installer. Available spring 2021.

Signature Kitchen Suite 36-inch Dual-Fuel Pro-Range With Sous Vide

There’s no doubt that consumers are becoming more educated when it comes to selecting. Some may spend hours researching the pros and cons of induction versus gas cooktops or watching the how-to videos behind speciality functions. But at the end of the day, isn’t it nice to nix the decision-making and have it all? Signature Kitchen Suite makes it an easy choice with its Dual-Fuel Pro-Range, designed with two-zone induction, two gas burners, and a sous vide module all on one cooktop, plus a combination steam and convection oven. Following the success of the system’s 48-inch model, the company is now introducing a 36-inch model to market. A plus for the urban-dwelling A&D community? The unit ranks in under 39,000 BTUs, meaning it can be installed without needing an (often pricey) make-up air system. Available now.

Kohler Purist Suspend Ceiling Mount Kitchen Faucet

Is there such a thing as having too much counter space in the kitchen? Kohler thinks not. This year, the fixtures maker is debuting a ceiling-mounted faucet to help free up kitchen surfaces and extend the standard faucet radius. A height-adjustable hose and a svelte spray head, which comes weighted to diminish excess swaying, are suspended from a mounted swing-arm that offers a rotational reach of 180 degrees. The fixture’s water flow, which comes with specialized modes for boost and cleaning outputs, can be controlled by a button directly on the faucet or wirelessly from a water-resistant remote. Available July 2021.

Monogram Redesigned Statement Collection Professional Range

Precision cooking is a descriptor commonly used to hype induction-cooking technologies, thanks to its narrow heating focus on the cookware vessel itself. But for the past few years, engineers at Monogram have been working to bring an elevated precision to gas cooktops. This spring, the company is rolling out its innovative True-Temp burner, which allows users to set gas burners at an exact temperature. So long, overcooked meats; hello tender, juicy steak. The new setting will debut in Monogram’s Redesigned Statement Collection Professional Range, available in 30-inch, 36-inch, or 48-inch models with all-gas or dual-fuel cooktops, and outfitted architecturally with a polished stainless-steel frame, solid brass knobs, and a digital control panel. Available April 2021.

Bosch Home Cabinet Depth Custom Ventilation Inserts With Home Connect

The kitchen is among the home’s greatest culprits when it comes to poor indoor air quality. Proper ventilation is critical in removing airborne particles produced by steam, gas fumes, and other cooking methods. Bosch Home’s Cabinet Depth Custom Ventilation Inserts with Home Connect stands out among the category’s new launches thanks to its versatile installation capabilities. Designed for the standard 12-inch-depth cabinet, the unit is available in 24-, 30-, and 36-inch widths with a built-in, dual-speed exhaust fan. Most impressive, however, is the unit's integration to Bosch’s Home Connect portal, which syncs with voice-control systems and also gives users the option to be alerted that it’s time to clean the machine-washable grease filter or change the charcoal filter. Because, let’s be honest, what good is having kitchen ventilation if it’s not actually in working order? Available summer 2021.
